Project Description:

Kava is a slow growing root crop. The root can be harvested within 3-4 years from planting. Kava that is sun dried can be exported. The dried kava is either powdered or further processed to isolate the active ingredient Kavalactones.

Project Steps:

  1. Locate buyers of Kava world wide who are interested in committing to a monthly purchase of dried kava packed in 20kg commodity bags.
  2.  Allocate Vanuatu cooperatives and registered exporters to the project.
  3. Track with Rurapp traceability tools every harvest from specific farmer fields located throughout Vanuatu.
  4. Organize the harvesting, trading and logistics for the project using Rurapp tools and mobile money platforms.
  5. Allocate RurApp platform scales to be used by the various kava operating businesses. The scale can be deployed anywhere in the islands and is able to weigh the kava quickly and accurately and then share the information via various communication methods.
  6. Ensure the specific varieties deemed appropriate for export are managed in accordance with export requirements.
  7. Provide quality control tools for the Kava operation businesses and support logistics for the export and delivery to the Project backers (buyers),
